Armenia banned imports of live pigs, pork and their genetic materials from seven countries due to the threat of African Swine Fever (ASF) disease entering the country, the Food Safety Inspectorate of the Republic reports.

Imports of live pigs and pork into Armenia banned due to threat of ASF

"By the decision of the head of this department, from September 17, a temporary ban was imposed on imports from Romania, Moldova, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary and Bulgaria of live pigs, their genetic materials, pork and other food meat raw materials, as well as finished products containing pork, skins, guts, bristles, hunting trophies, all types of hogs’ feed and compound feed (with the exception of synthetic and chemical-containing feedstuffs), "- reported on the website of the regulator.

It is noted that the reason for the restrictions is the information published on the website of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on cases of ASF recorded in these countries.
