Russia expects to enter the TOP-5 world's pork exporters

The major strategic satisfaction for the hog production in Russia over next 10 year to hit top five world exporters of pork and increase global lead. Pork imports volumes should increase four-fivefold in the next six years. This was said by Yuri Kovalev, the general director of National Union of hog’s producers (NUPP) at the annual NUPP’s session. He emphasized that this is not at all an unlikely scenario.

НСС-logo.jpgAccording to NUPP estimates the 2018 year half results on pork exports including pork fat and pork offal were 41% up y-o-y to 41.1 thousand ton. According to results of this year shipments to abroad will be able to grow by 15-20% to the 2017 level at 80-85 thousand ton (and even 100 thousand ton auspiciously). By the year 20124 pork exports will be up to 270 thousand ton, including 138 thousand ton of pork cuts, 126 thousand ton of pork offal, and 6 thousand ton of pork back fat. In value Russia pork exports will grow from $126 million in 2017 to $501 million, said the NUPP.

Russia has already been among 15 lead countries – pork producers, however international experts do not see Russia among the leading exporters. Thus, according to the OD Consulting forecast Russian pork exports will be only 5 thousand ton by the year 2016 while the NUPP estimates prospects for Russia pork exports at 300 thousand ton what is ranted number five in the global pork exporting.
