Omsk pig enterprises will resume pork deliveries to Kazakhstan

Omsk pig enterprises will resume pork deliveries to KazakhstanIn 2017, Kazakhstan  imposed a ban on the supply of pig products from Russia in connection with the epidemic of African swine fever.

The head of the Department of State Veterinary Surveillance in the Omsk Region Alexei Kharin positively assessed the decision of Kazakhstan.

He said that there are enterprises in the region whose share of deliveries of pig products to Kazakhstan exceeded 50%.

«“The abolition of these restrictions will be a good help for the region’s economy,” said Alexei Kharin.

According to Omskstat for 11 months of 2019, meat production in the region increased by 10.3% compared to the same period last year, meat and meat-containing semi-finished products - by 9.3%. Since the beginning of the year, 187.8 thousand tons of cattle and poultry for slaughter in live weight have been produced in the farms of the region, including pigs - 76.2 thousand tons (+3.1%).
