Kazakhstan imposed restrictions on imports of pig breeding products from Russia

On December 2, 2020, the Veterinary Control Committee introduced restrictions on preventing the drift of African swine fever, which was recorded in territory of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Particularly, temporary restrictions on imports and transit were introduced in relation to the Arkhangelsk, Omsk, Orenburg and Kursk regions of Russia.

Prohibited products such as live pigs, cartilage sperm, pork and wild boar meat, the genetic material of these animals, pig breeding products (not thermally treated above 72 ° C in the thickness of the product over 30 minutes), including the products of slaughtering wild boars, hoof, leather and intestinal raw materials, bristles, feeds for hogs that have not undergone similar heat treatment; hunting trophies; equipment used for livestock management, slaughtering and cutting of pigs.

On December 3, employees of the Right of Economic Use “National Referential Centre of Veterinary" were sent to the North Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions to remove wild boars and take samples for research on African swine fever.

Earlier, the North Kazakhstan region strengthened control due to the outbreak of African swine fever in Russia. Local pig breeding companies, including EMC Agro LLP, have been notified of additional protective measures to prevent drift of infection, and to strengthen veterinary and sanitary control.
