Pig production increased by 11.3%

During the first four months of 2020, the production of pigs for slaughter in live weight in agricultural organizations in Russia increased by 11.3%.

In total, from January to April 2020, 1.5 million tons of pigs were produced for slaughter in live weight. This is 150 thousand tons more than in the same period in 2019.

The main increase was provided by agricultural producers of Kursk, Tambov, Belgorod, Voronezh, Pskov, Orel regions, the Republic of Bashkortostan and Mordovia.

The key factors determining the positive dynamics of the development of domestic pig farming are the formation of a modern breeding base and the strengthening of veterinary protection.
