Pork production increased in Russia

Union General Director Yuri Kovalev said that there is currently a high supply in the pork market, which, as a result, leads to increased competition. This leads to a decrease in wholesale prices: in 2019 it amounted to 8%, and according to the results of the first quarter of 2020 - 10% compared with the same period last year.

As for prices, the union says that there is no reason for their growth, pork prices will decline.

Producers are increasing the supply of pork to the markets of third countries. At the end of 2019, Russia exported 108 thousand tons of pork.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, on April 6, 2020, the average price of agricultural producers for pork in slaughter weight was 138.42 rubles / kg, which is 4.5% lower than the previous week. The cost of pork in live weight was 86.13 rubles / kg, having decreased by 4.3% over the week.
