Pig production remains the leader in terms of production growth in the meat market of Russia

Production of pigs in live weight in August 2019 in agricultural enterprises of Russia amounted to 357.8 thousand tons, according to Rosstat.

Compared to August 2018, the growth amounted to 5.5%, and from July of the current year - 3.5%. From January to August 2019, pig production in the country grew by 5.3%.

Cattle production in August remained at the level of August last year - 78.9 thousand tons. Over 8 months, growth was 1.8%.

In August, poultry farmers increased production by 1.5%, to 498.2 thousand tons. In January-August, indicators decreased by 0.2%.

A total of 938.5 thousand tons of livestock and poultry (in live weight) were produced in August, which is 2.9% more than a year ago. Over 8 months, growth was 1.9%.
