Armenia: farmers reported an outbreak of African swine fever

The farmers accuse the Ministry of Economy and the Prime Minister's administration of not responding to their requests.

One of the farmers lost 600 heads of pigs, another lost 400 pigs, and another person lost 100, the Armour reported.

"Representatives of the Food Safety Inspectorate came and recorded everything. They said that we have no right to sell dead cattle. They took samples to confirm African swine fever but have not yet confirmed the diagnosis. We asked for the opportunity to take the tests abroad and document the ASF, but the official does not allow us to do this," said one of the farmers.

He noted that veterinarians are sure that it is about ASF, but the Inspectorate does not confirm this, so as not to pay compensation of 75%.

The Inspectorate reported that based on the statements of residents, an inspection is underway.

The Head of the Community Hovhannes Sargsyan promised to give a comment later.
