Agricultural production in Russia decreased by more than 10%

Agricultural production in Russia in January-August 2021 decreased by 3.4% compared to the same period last year, and decreased by 10.1% in August, according to the Rosstat report. In July this year, the indicator increased by 0.9%.

The output of agricultural production in August – according to Rosstat, "due to the later, compared to the previous year, the beginning of harvesting" – in current prices, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 787.8 billion rubles, in January-August - 3.404 trillion rubles.

In 2020, agricultural production in the Russian Federation increased by 1.5% compared to the previous year.

At the end of August, the number of cattle in all types of farms in the Russian Federation amounted to 18.8 million heads, a decrease of 1.4% compared to the same date last year, of which 7.9 million cows (-1.6%). The number of pigs increased by 2% - to 27.5 million, sheep and goats – decreased by 5%, to 23 million.

Milk production for eight months of 2021 in annual terms did not change and amounted to 22.1 million tons, in August – decreased by 0.7%, to 3.1 million tons. Egg production in January-August decreased by 0.3% compared to last year and amounted to 30.4 billion eggs, in August – increased by 1.7%, to 4 billion eggs.
