Meat production in Russia increased by 8.9%

The production of meat of cattle, pork, lamb, goat, horse meat and venison in May this year in the Russian Federation reached 305 thousand tons.

According to the results of the first 5 months of this year, meat production in the country increased by 8.9% compared to January – May 2022, according to the report of the Federal State Statistics Service "Socio-economic situation of Russia".

The production of cattle meat, pork, lamb, goat meat, horse meat and venison in May this year reached 305 thousand tons, which is 9.7% higher than in May last year, and 5.1% more than in April 2023. Poultry meat production in May increased by 1% compared to the same month of 2022 and reached 433 thousand tons.

The production of semi-finished meat products (frozen and chilled) increased in May by 8.7% compared to the same month a year earlier, to 396 thousand tons.

The production of sausages and canned meat increased by almost 6% in May. At the same time, according to the results of January – May of this year, the canned meat production output increased by 12.8% at once.
